Tankless water heaters aren’t for everyone – here’s why
When it comes to home water heating, there seems to be a trend. People are moving from their old conventional water heaters to new tankless water heaters that boost energy savings. However, are these systems really the best choice for everyone that’s buying them? Take a few minutes to read these reasons why you DON’T need a tankless water heater for your home. Then, call a trained plumbing professional that can answer all of your questions.
Reasons #1: Your home is large
Many people with large homes are making the mistake of switching to tankless models. What people don’t understand is that conventional water heaters are quite efficient. This means that there’s usually no reason to upgrade your water heater unless it’s really old or not working properly. Additionally, conventional water heaters are able to supply large homes with more usage needs while tankless water heaters fall short.
Reason #2: You have a lot of family members
This is another reason you don’t need a tankless model, and it has to do with your family and usage. With more members n your family, many times, you’ll have multiple plumbing fixtures running at the same time. You either won’t have enough hot water, or you’ll need to install extra units, which could be expensive.
Reason #3: You can’t afford it
Many people don’t understand just how expensive it can be to install a tankless model. They hear energy savings and disregard the rest. However, tankless models themselves can be quite expensive. Not to mention, there’s retrofitting, labor and possibly multiple units to think about, which can run the bill up quite high – it won’t matter how much you’re saving.
Reason #4: Your unit is fine
As stated before, most homes are fine with just a conventional unit. Conventional units, especially newer ones, are quite efficient themselves, and you won’t need to worry about any of the unforeseen expenses of installing a tankless model.
